St. John's Ministries

Adult Education

Formation Class

Held throughout the year. We have offered Bible Study reflections, forums on specific topics suggested from those attending the forums and special offerings such as our Inquirers/Confirmation Class where we explore the basics of our Christian faith and how we live into our faith in the Episcopal Church.

Book Group

Book Group readings and discussions occur intermittently throughout the year and focus on books related to faith and spirituality. Some of the readings have included: For the Bible Tells Me So by Peter Enns and The Universal Christ by Richard Rohr.

Children's Chapel

The Children's Chapel takes place weekly during the Sunday morning service throughout the school year. It is led by two adults who facilitate the discussion and activities. The children take turns doing various roles in their own service such as carrying the cross, lighting the candles, reading the Gospel, leading the children's liturgy, and collecting an offering. After they complete the service, they move to a classroom to participate in some form of activity related to the Gospel message from that week. This includes crafts, songs, games and other learning activities.

Coffee Hour Hosts

We have volunteers who prepare Coffee Hour every Sunday! This is a critical ministry in the life of the Parish as it serves as the principal weekly opportunity for St. John's family and those visiting to socialize with one another. We welcome newcomers and visitors.

Counter Ministry

There are two parishioners that are assigned to count the offering every Sunday after the 10 AM service. This process take about 45 minutes and helps keep track of finances for the church treasurer.

Creation Care Team

The Creation Care Team works to ensure that our church infrastructure supports an environmentally healthy community through actions such as reducing water use, limiting use of disposable products, and environmental education.

Discernment Committee

They help guide those who are considering ordination ministries.

Fellowship Committee

Plans church and community involved events.

Finance Committee

Assists the Bishop's Committee and Treasurer in making financial decisions for the parish and helping to be good stewards of our finances. Members of the Finance Committee are part of St. John's parish.

Food Pantry Outreach

We have a volunteer from the Parish who will delivers donated items to the local Cache Food Pantry.

Girl Scouts

Girl Scout Troop 2033 helps girls learn life long skills. They have learned first aid as well as about important women through history. They go camping and earn several different merit badges.

Morning Prayer

Morning Prayer is held Saturdays at 8:30 AM lead by Ed Stafford & Marj Cramer. We use the Forward Day by Day Bible devotional as a reflection/commentary on the scripture passage.

Music Ministry

The Music Ministry focuses on different concerts & events held at St. John's. We have had many guest performers in the past including the Cache Children's Choir and the American Festival Chorus directed by Craig Jessop.

Nursing Home

Volunteers attend services at assisted livings and nursing homes in Cache Valley on Sundays. It's amazing how much a simple conversation with someone willing to listen makes a difference for individuals in the sunsets of their lives.

Office Volunteers

Our office is open Monday ~ Thursday. The Office Volunteers help cover the days our Parish Administrator is not in the office. Their duties include welcoming guests, answering the phones, straightening the sanctuary for Sunday services & folding service bulletins.

Pastoral Care Committee

This ministry helps to sustain others through prolonged difficulty or immediate need by cooking meals, giving rides, lending an ear, sending cards, etc. The parish is divided into neighborhoods and there is a designated committee member for each neighborhood.

Prayer Shawl Knitting Group

If you knit or want to learn, the group meets weekly on Tuesdays at 10 AM in the Paul Jones Library. They knit and pray over shawls for those who are ill, recuperating, grieving, or in need of support. This is a great fellowship. Anyone is welcome to join!

Recital/Concert Hosts

St. John's is privledged to host many concerts and recitals. Our hosts are there to assist those who are performing by unlocking the doors and making sure they have everything they need. For more information contact our Director of Music, Jonathan Rose at music.stjohns@yahoo.com
